Update on Psycho Donuts. She likes it.

Yesterday, Zinger had only ate half of the apple fritter. (It's unusual that Zinger does not finish a donut as soon as she gets one. ) This morning, she took the donut out of the fridge and ate it. She saw pieces of apricot in the fitter. ( That's a piece of apricot in the red circle in the picture.) She found out that it is not an apple fritter, it's an apricot fitter. Psycho Donut's Apricotology. Hmm, it actually tastes better cold from the fridge.  She likes it. She also had some donut fries out of fridge. And they are more crispier.  She likes it. 

Psycho donuts are here!! ....... She likes it and she doesn't like it.

Zinger has been waiting for Psycho Donuts for a few weeks now. And today is her lucky day because they are finally here by special delivery. Zinger was so anxious to try and she had very high expectation.  So they came in two bags. One bag had the glaced raised and apple fritter. The other bag had French Fries? Ugh? Fries? Zinger doesn't eat fries.  Wait a minute, they are not the salted fries. They are donut fries with cinnamon sugar and come with a container of sugary sweet sauce for dipping. That is a neat idea and very interesting. So Zinger took a flapper-ful of fries and put in her mouth. 12 fries at once.  They are good. They are cake donuts in very long cylinder shape. But they don't taste like donuts at all.  The dipping sauce is sweet and taste good with the fries. She likes it. 

Now on to the real donuts. The glazed raised donut is very light-weight. Not very puffy and pillowy looking. And the glaze is very thin and kind of just melted onto the donut. The dough does not have that yeast dough texture. She was a bit disappointed by the donut.  Next up for Zinger's sweet test is the apple fritter.  Ahh.....  Zinger has not had an apple fritter in a long time. Boy, this is one heavy apple fritter. Very heavy.  The crust is very crispy, the way apple fritters should be. It tastes very greasy also.  Most apple fritters taste greasy.  And they are heavy because a lot of oil is soaked in the dough. That's why they are also very heavy. Very sweet also.  Overall, Zinger gives this apple fritter a 5.  The glazed raised donut gets a 5 also.  Zinger is disappointed by Psycho Donuts.  She likes the donut fries better.   Eventhough the donuts were bought in early morning and delivered fresh to Zinger, but they do not taste that fresh.  Zinger doesn't like it. 

Red's Donuts. She likes it.

Zinger had Red's Donuts.  They were good. But not as good as Chuck's. She rated the glaze on the raised donut a 6. The chocolate bar was good. It has a thick layer of chocolate. The dough is okay. Here is Zinger's rating of Red's donuts:

Overall, the donuts are good.  They deserve a solid "6".  She likes it.

Choco Dong. She likes it.

Another delicious chocolate cake from Calafia. Zinger named it Choco Dong. Same chocolate ganache coating. Same moist chocolate cake layers with mousse layers.  Zinger likes it. 

Waiting for Psycho Donuts. She doesn't like it.

Zinger heard about this new donut shop that opened last month in downtown campbell. The shop is Psycho Donuts. They make some very crazy looking donuts.  Zinger looked up this place on Yelp. They look very sweet and interesting and have some interesting flavors.  She wants to eat their donuts. She is waiting for Psycho Donuts. Somebody please get her some Psycho Donuts. She is waiting. She doesn't like it. 

Jelly Roll. She likes it.

Cousins made Zinger a jelly roll today. It's shaped liker her cylinder. It's sweet, just like Zinger. Zinger likes it.

Ding Dong German Chocolate Cake. She likes it.

Ding Dong! Who's there? Ding Dong!  Zinger opened the door and in came Ding Dong German chocolate cake. Zinger called it Ding Dong because it has the same Ding Dong chocolate cake base with the thick creamy chocolate ganache.  This cake has a sweet caramel coconut layer in between.  Very yummy.  Another good cake from Calafia. She likes it. 

Donut Trio. She likes it.

Zinger got 3 donuts. Cinnamon roll, blueberry cake, and cinnamon crumb cylinder. Zinger was very surprised to see a cylinder donut.  This cylinder donut is covered with crumbs over a sweet glaze.  And when Zinger bit into the donut, it's cinnamon dough!! Very good. All three donuts are good. Zinger was very impressed with the cylinder donut, shaped like her.  She likes it.
